Tour Itinerary
Day 1 We will start the tour at your chosen location in Edinburgh (Glasgow and other locations are available) and make our way out of the Lowlands and travel up the A9 towards our first stop of the day at the Taste of Perthshire, here we may get a chance to see some Highland Cows and pick up some refreshments. The next stop is an optional small walk to see the Falls of Brann at the Hermitage a very photogenic spot offering stunnings views from Ossians Hall. We will then travel a short distance into the Victorian town of Pitlochry, the gateway to the Highlands famous for its fish ladder at the Tummel Dam and its Victorian Heritage. This town has a rich history linked to Queen Victorias visit in 1842. Making the longer journey northwards we will then come towards Clava Cairns which is steeped in mystery. This Bronze Age burial site dates all the way back to 2000BC. A short distance from here we will then arrive at Culloden Battlefield. The site where the famous 1745 Jacobite Rebellion came to a crushing end changing the Highland way of life forever. Our final stop of the day is Inverness where you will have some free time to explore the town. (Many shops close around 1700/1730) Day 2 Today we visit Scotland’s most desirable island the Isle of Skye. We will set off at 0800 and travel west towards the famous Loch Ness where we will make a stop for a photo also keeping an eye out for lochs elusive resident - Nessie. Onwards towards Skye enjoying the spectacular scenery through the glens marvelling at the beauty of Glenshiel as we make our approach to the next destination Eilean Donan Castle said to be the most photographed castle in Scotland. We will have the option for an interior visit or just a photo from the exterior. Interior visits please bear in mind this will reduce the afternoon stops slightly to keep us on schedule. Portree Skye’s capital will be our opportunity to grab some lunch and get the picture-perfect shot of the Portree harbour famous for its colourful buildings. The afternoon we will loop round the most famous section of Skye the Trotternish ridge getting some photo stops at the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock & the Quiraing before we start to make our way south from the ferry port of Uig. The journey to Fort William we will travel back over the Skye bridge and should arrive at Fort William just before 7PM. Additionally, if the tidal ferry offers the correct sailing time, we may be able to catch the Skye – Mallaig Ferry off the Isle of Skye. (Confirmed on booking and assuming the timetable is live) Day 3 Our final day on tour is one not to forget with the spectacular drive through the awe-inspiring Glencoe making our way back into the Lowlands. Just before leaving the Highlands, we will make a stop at the conservation village of Luss on the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. Driving east towards Edinburgh we will make one more stop to visit Duke & Baron affectionally known as the Kelpies before our arrival into Edinburgh. (Glasgow drop offs will not include the Kelpies)
