Description

This tour departs from the main public transport links to Skye such as the Armadale - Mallaig Ferry & the Kyle of Lochalsh - Inverness train station.

If you are staying nearby to these locations, please let us know and we should be able to accommodate this.

The tour will cover the South of Skye and Lochalsh on the mainland. With some incredible scenery, the most photographed castle in Scotland and the world’s last manually operated turntable ferry, this is an adventure not to be missed. Not only that we have the option to go into the heart of the famous black Cuillin mountain range with a boat trip to Loch Coruisk which is our favourite place on Skye.

This tour relies heavily on fair weather to ensure the boat trip and ferry service doesn’t have any disruption, but we can change plans on the day if some of the route isn't possible and visit alternative locations tailored to the group.

Please see here the standard itinerary which has a few options to choose from for the afternoon part of the tour.

South Skye & Lochalsh 1 Day Tour FAQ's

FAQ
FAQ

Our FAQ's can be found here but FAQ's specific to this tour are below:

Is the tour flexible to change routes? - Yes of course, There is so many options and sites to stop at that not all are possible in a day, so we have given two options on popular routes. No two groups are the same so we like to keep this as flexible as possible and have a dedicated tour booking agent who can create the perfect tour for you.

Should we book attractions in advance? Most sites such as Dunvegan Castle can be booked on the day. The only attraction that we recommend booking in advance is whisky tours and any boat trips.

What pick up locations do you offer? We can pick up nearby to Kyle of Lochalsh in places such as Plockton or anywhere on South Skye on the route up North. Places such as Broadford or Sleat are no problem.

Why don’t you include the cost of attractions in your price? We don’t include any entry tickets into attractions to give you the freedom to decide what attractions you’d like to visit. While some guests like to explore the area around the attractions, others choose to inside. Leaving this down to choice it gives better value to the tour. Any attractions that must be booked in advance we will advise and if preferred we can book this for you with a small administration fee. See here for more details

Where do we stop for lunch? There are many options to choose from which your guide will provide you with the details for at the start of your tour. On Skye some places are best to be booked in advance although this means it gives less flexibility for itinerary changes on the day. We find many groups on Skye tours would rather have a grab and go style lunch or make the choice whilst on tour. To make the most of your time on tour and to fit more stops in we recommend bringing some snacks on the tour although we are happy to make recommendations at the booking process if you would rather sit down in a nice cosy pub or visit a café or restaurant for dining.

How do we contact our guide before the tour? You can contact us at any time via our email or the number provided on our webpage. We will provide the guides contact details the night before the tour and they will be in touch no later than the morning of the tour to introduce themselves and to confirm all pick up details. We do this via WhatsApp. If you don’t use this app then please go through our main office number for any arrangements. +44 (0) 7737157607

Can I start and end the tour at different locations? Yes of course. You can start and end the tour at different locations but this MUST be pre-arranged beforehand and may incur an extra charge depending on the location you wish to start/end.

Will we do a whisky distillery? There are three whisky distilleries in the Skye & Lochalsh area, the oldest is Talisker and is popular to visit there if doing the Fairy Pools as they are very near each other, and you also have Toraphaig distillery in the Sleat Peninsula & Raasay distillery which is on the island of Raasay island that sits next to Skye.
